This is where we can all brainstorm ideas, talk out of character, and generally work out the finer details of this grand plan.

Please keep any major plot outlining or character developing to the separate threads, so it is easier to find information during October.

Someone's been busy today Looks awesome! I'm excited!

Busy is a good word, but productive is not. I have managed to experience a whirlwind of good and bad things today, but I can't say that any of them have really contributed to anything productive.

That's somewhat vague. I hope everything's alright for you. Or do you mean you've been procrastinating? I've been procrastinating... less than two hours to complete this assignment! Almost done though, I should be done within forty minutes.

If my Internet happened to cut I would get a zero and probably smash my face through the wall.

I intend to participate in this. I'll brainstorm some ideas when I'm not quite so worn out.

I was. I mean, not necessarily with mindless activity, but activity that got me nowhere all the same (writing emails, working on bits and pieces of other projects, messing around with some software)

Ugh. Don't talk to me about assignments due in two hours. I've got to 'coordinate' some answers for this ridiculous online group activity that is impossible to do. Ugh. It's not the members in my group's fault, but our professor just can't get it through his head that an in-depth online discussion and collaboration is REALLY DIFFICULT TO DO IN LESS THAN A WEEK WHEN WE ALL HAVE CONFLICTING SCHEDULES AND THE SITE IS NOT USER-FRIENDLY.

I'm participating!! No ideas, except I want crazy magic things. That's no help at all, I know, but my head hurts and that is no good for thinking ideas...

Well, it's October. We start sometime today. I should go work on a character...

I can post first, if you all want. I have some ideas and I'll post them in the plot area to get an OK from you all before I begin.

Ideally, all of us should be posting around 400 words a day, give or take twenty or so. More is awesome, should people feel so inclined.

400 words seems pretty reasonable. I'm thinking we may want to do this similar to a "one-sentence-story" but obviously with longer posts. Otherwise, hitting the 400 word count will be really difficult when taking dialogue into account.

Exactly. However, there is nothing that says we can't make more than one post per day. So if dialogue crops up (which it will, a lot) we can add shorter posts, and it will just add to word count. But we should all try to make one base post of around 400 a day.

As admin, do you have some way to check the word count of a thread?

Yes, I think so, but I also figured I'd save it somewhere too where I can check word count. I can post the total at the end of every day.

I would add the reputation points feature to posts, but I think it would start to encourage competition, which I don't like very much...

On the rare occasion I can't make a post, I'll try for an 800 word the next day.

Wing it, but create a bit of an 'info sheet' maybe to post and share after we get a few posts in the story.

My post was 170 words... I wasn't actually sure how to lengthen it without dragging it out.

Dragging things out is perfectly acceptable. It is always easier to edit down than to add more in a refining stage.

I'll try that in the future, but today I'll probably make up my remaining 230 words after Mozy, or Elfie, or somebody else posts.
